Mad apostate monk, born c. 1110, his name means "Eon of the Stars". He grew up in Aquitaine, where his rants against "the wanton Eleanor" won him no friends whatsoever. He was excommunicated in 1138. Undeterred, he began to proclaim himself the messiah and second coming of Christ, gathering a small but enthusiastic following. He was captured by the archbishop of Rheims in 1148 and imprisoned.
Recently he was released, probably by followers of the late Anti-Pope Victor, to return to France and cause trouble. He has since revived his messianic cult and is calling for the expulsion from France of all wizards and the death of "the high witch" Eleanor (whose divorce from King Louis seems to have gone unnoticed).
