A pack of magical hounds that have the ability to sniff out magic. Heavy concentrations of magic attract their notice. They are present at all royal ceremonies where magic is awarded and (some say reluctantly) make acceptions for items gifted by the Crown.
The hounds have the ability to pass unseen, and thus no one's quite sure how many hounds are in the pack. Most estimate the number in the hundreds.
The Pack Arcana is kept in check by the Arcana Dorceus. The Hound-Staff, possessed by the High Hound of that Order, can summon them at will. Legend says that the tooth of a Roman Centurion's wolfhound that bit Jesus while he was carrying the cross is at the head of that relic. It is a legend that has helped win the Arcana Dorceus some tolerance (if not acceptance) from the Church.
